Google setup

Requirements

As part of the process, you will require the following:

  1. Eloqua administrator account access

  2. Access details for the Google account that owns your advertising

  3. Google Ad account ID

Installation

If you haven't already done so, install the product

*Installation links will be provided by your account manager

Location

  • After installation, a new “Google Ad-Targeting” step is available within your Campaign or Program steps menu (to the left of any campaign/program).​

  • If you cannot see the connector – click the ‘expand’ icon twice to show all steps.​

Configuration

To access the connector configuration, please follow the instructions below:​

  1. Add the step to the canvas​

  2. Double click on the created step to load the step information (see image to the left)​

  3. Click the ‘Pencil’ icon ​

  4. Click ‘Let’s Go!’ on the pop-up. ​

Administration

You can setup the Administration settings at the following location (from the configuration screen)​

  1. Click Setup located at the top right​

  2. Click Settings from the drop-down menu​

  3. Click Google from the resultant screen

  1. Click on the + icon​

  2. Ad Account: Enter your Ads Account ID ​ The system will ask you to log in with a Google account so that you can grant/confirm permissions. Once logged in, please click Allow.​ Please select the account which has access to the advertising account.​

  3. Enable number matching​ The system can send the hashed user contact number in addition to the email address to your Facebook audience. You can specify which fields within your database store the contacts telephone number.

User Instance

You can setup the Administration settings at the following location (from the configuration screen)​

  • Google Ad-Account: ​ Select the required account​ ​

  • Select Audience: ​ Select/Create the custom audience that the contact(s) will be synchronised with. ​

Examples

The example on the left shows Google Ads to a contact until they complete a form, or a set period is reached.​

The process is as follows:

  • This starts with an always-on segment, so you set it once and it keeps synching new target contacts​

  • Contacts are automatically added to an ad target-audience, “include” list​

  • The decision step monitors to see if they bought (re-checking every 30 mins)​

  • Once they buy OR after the maximum time is reached, they are moved to the second step which stops the advert as they are added to an “exclude list”​

Step by Step Checklist

  • Install the JAF main app​

  • Install the Google connector​

  • Expand the element selector on the canvas to locate the Google connector and select the star to ensure it will be shown on all levels of the menu​

  • When setting up the component, ensure that you log into the Google account that manages your adverts ​ and that you have the Google Ad-Account ID​
