Facebook setup

Automatically add specific contacts to Facebook Custom Audiences (individually or in bulk – using any of the campaign features of Eloqua).

Requirements

As part of this process, you will require the following:

  1. Eloqua administrator account access

  2. Access details for the Facebook account that owns your advertising

  3. Facebook Ads Manager ID

Installation

If you haven't already done so, install the product

Location

  • After installation, a new “Facebook Ad-Targeting” step is available within your Campaign or Program steps menu (to the left of any campaign/program).

  • If you cannot see the connector – click the ‘expand’ icon twice to show all steps.

Configuration

To access the connector configuration, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Add the step to the canvas

  2. Double click on the created step to load the step information

  3. Click the ‘Pencil’ icon

  4. Click ‘Let’s Go!’ on the pop-up.

Administration

You can setup the Administration settings at the following location (from the configuration screen)

  1. Click Setup located at the top right

  2. Click Settings from the drop-down menu

  3. Click Facebook from the resultant screen (see below)

  1. Click on the + icon

  2. Enter a Name / nickname

  3. Enter your Ads Manager ID within the Ad Account

  4. The Access token will be automatically populated by Facebook

Click “Generate access token” and login to the Facebook account that owns your advertising – not usually your personal account.

5. Enable number matching

The system can send the hashed user contact number in addition to the email address to your Facebook audience. You can specify which fields within your database store the contacts telephone number.

User Instance

You can setup the Administration settings at the following location (from the configuration screen)

  • Facebook Ad-Account: Select the required account

  • Mode: Specify whether to Add or Delete the contact(s) to/from the Audience selected below.

  • Select Audience: Select/Create the custom audience that the contact(s) will be added to or deleted from.

Examples

The example below shows a more advanced pattern, which stops an advert as soon as somebody buys OR after a set period.

The process is as follows:

  1. This starts with an always-on segment, so you set it once and it keeps synching new target contacts

  2. Contacts are automatically added to an ad target-audience

  3. The decision step monitors to see if they bought (re-checking every 30 mins)

  4. Once they buy OR after the maximum time is reached, they are moved to the second step which stops the advert

Step by Step Checklist

  • Install the Instant Marketing main app​

  • Install the Facebook connector

  • Expand the element selector on the canvas to locate the Facebook connector and select the star to ensure it ​ will be shown on all levels of the menu​

  • When setting up the component, ensure that you log into the Facebook account that manages your adverts ​ and that you have the Ads Manager ID​

  • Create a recurring calendar event every 50 days to remind you to re-generate the access token​
